Description

The NSW Consumer Workers’ Forum is an annual event that celebrates and connects the state’s public mental health peer workers (Consumer Workers).

In a recent survey of the NSW Health Consumer Workers, you told us that the Forum needs to provide professional development to the consumer workforce to build skills for consumer work, and needs to provide opportunities for the sharing of skills and knowledge across LHDs.

This year’s event will feature the opportunities emerging from the survey - opportunities for building frontline skills including Recovery Oriented Practise, Intentional Peer Support, Consumer Advocacy and the Mental Health Act, working with the NDIS, and more.

You also told us that the NSW Consumer Workers’ Forum needs to provide targeted information about the local, state and national policy developments that affect Consumer Workers. Jae Radican, the NSW Peer Workforce Coordinator will be joining us to discuss his role and his task to develop a shared vision for the NSW Peer Workforce – both public and community managed.

At the 2016 Forum we will also be showcasing the your achivments, and focusing on a celebration of good practise. As well LHD Presentations, we will be inviting consumer workers to share great consumer worker led projects from across NSW.
